What does foundation mean?

Every structure is mainly divided into two parts – a superstructure and the other sub-structure or foundation is the lowest part of a structure, which rests inside the soil.
That is, the lowest part of the structure is called the foundation.

Basic Requirements:

1. The foundation should be constructed in such a way that it can easily transfer the dead load and live load to the foundation soil.
2. The inner base should be stiff enough to minimize uneven settlement when the applied load is not evenly distributed.
3. The foundation should be of adequate depth so that the structure is not damaged due to expansion or contraction of the foundation soil.
4. The foundation should be laid in such a way that it will not be damaged by any unforeseen impact in the future.
